James Conway Obituary

Published by News & Messenger on Dec. 1, 2010.

James Francis Conway James Francis Conway, 85, of Manassas Park, VA passed away on November 27, 2010 in Arlington, VA at Capital Hospice's Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Donna Conway; his three children (and spouses): Dorothy and Mark Woodmancy, Teresa and Mike Johnson, and Timothy and Laine Conway; seven grandchildren; and one surviving sister.

Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he worked at the Defense Communication Agency in Arlington for more than 30 years.

While he lived in Northern Virginia (primarily in Woodbridge) for more than 45 years, he never wavered in his loyalty to his hometown of Boston, MA, particularly in his love of the Boston Red Sox. He will be remembered for his pride in his Irish heritage, his sly sense of humor, love of horse racing, his daily crossword, attending the many sporting events of his children, a tendency to break into song for his grandchildren, and his commitment and devotion to his family.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010, followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Woodbridge, VA. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Capital Hospice, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042 or www.capitalhospice.org.
