Ruth Gluchowski Ruth Virginia Gluchowski, 87, of Fredericksburg, Virginia died on Thursday, December 30, 2010. She passed away peacefully at Mary Washington Hospital after a brief illness.

Ruth was born on November 3, 1923 in Rochester, New York. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ida Straub. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Woodrow Gluchowski and her loving son, Lee Gluchowski.

She is survived by three children, Paul and his wife, Vikki, of Manassas, Woodrow and his wife, Leslie of Fredericksburg and Patricia and her husband, Bruce, of Fredericksburg. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth loved reading, cross-stitching, and spending time with her family and friends. She graduated from Highland Hospital Nursing School with an RN degree in 1944. She was married on October 15, 1945 and was a loyal and dedicated wife to her loving husband, Frank, for 54 years until his death in 1999. During his lengthy illness with kidney disease, she was his devoted caretaker, nurse, wife and comfort giver.

We love and miss you, Mom, but we know you have found eternal peace and are with your loved ones that you have missed for so long.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2010 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Culpeper National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Trudy Clifton HC 76, Box 1527 Locust Grove, Virginia 22508. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at foundandsons.com.
