At 6:00 am it hit me. Hit me two hours before the doctors even told us. Despite the valiant efforts of many doctors, surgeons and nurses over four days in two different hospitals, this was going to be your last day with us. My heart sank as I called your lifetime friend and best man Gene. Hearing the words come out of my mouth was surreal. Gene, Ellen and the kids rushed to the hospital to be by your side. My family and your favorite cousin Nicky all came. You were surrounded by so much love. We prayed, talked, laughed and cried as we stood by your beside. Watching you slip away a little more each hour was heart wrenching. No matter how badly we did not want to let you go, we knew you would have never wanted to live like that. Our hearts were breaking but on your face we saw peace. You are gone from our sight but never from our hearts. We will keep your memory alive and will "Always Remember, Never Forget". 'Til we all meet again,all of our love. Love forever and ever your three girls, Gerri, Meaghan and Maddie. xoxoxo

One year ago today you gave us your last gift. As we walked down the hallway with the surgical team as they wheeled you into the operating room, I asked you to please show Meaghan and I that we are worth fighting for. Doctors asked us if we understood that this was life saving surgery and that you had very little chance of even making it through the surgery. Hours of waiting and praying. You made it through and gave us one more day with you, a day we desperately needed. You showed Meaghan and I that we were worth fighting for. We were so happy and grateful to have that time. Meaghan and I camped out all night in the hospital on the benches outside the ICU taking turns going in to talk softly to you, hug you, kiss you or just hold your hand. We know you knew we were there. Heartbroken we were that this had happened to you. Thinking of you and missing you terribly. Love forever and ever, Gerri, Meaghan and Maddie. xoxoxo

Last year today we thought you had turned the corner. Your fever broke and you had a great visit with EJ and Ronnie. Family came to visit, you felt better and you were in good spirits. We were so relieved and happy. Later that afternoon things had unfortunately changed. So sorry and sad . Love you and miss you, Gerri, Meaghan and Maddie. :'(
