I was teaching at the same time Elizabeth served in the High School library with William Greaney and Joseph Purcell. I remember her as a soft spoken, lovely person. It wasn’t until after we both retired that I had the honor of interviewing her for ROBS; History Project. That was when I learned about her life.
Did you know that Elizabeth had traced her family roots in this country back to 1620, the same year the Mayflower landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts…. or that her ancestors had fought and died for our freedom during the American Revolutionary War? Betty had steeped herself in family history even before the internet made it fashionable to do so.
I posted to the family earlier today, a DVD copy of her interview for which she sat and talked with me for one hour on November 30, 2000. Ten years later and in the opinion of this former History Teacher, it remains one of the most memorable of our collection. I was blessed to have known her.

Remembering Betty is so easy to do. She was that extremely helpful and knowledgable person in the Brentwood library who kept my English classes humming along. And then she was a right hand to all of us who worked through the Presbytery of Long Island in doing the myriad number of things that needed to be done. She was a love! My thoughts are with you all!
