Our deepest condolences to the Mangels' family on the loss of your beloved Albert. I wish our group was able to meet him when we visited NYC many years ago. To be able to sit down and hear Mr. Mangels' speak of his vast wealth of knowledge and history of the amusement industry and ride manufacturing would have been truly amazing to listen to. Although I am too old to remember riding and of his kiddie rides, I do enjoy the Whip ride at several amusement parks across the country and enjoy seeing many of the older Mangels' kiddie rides being enjoyed by a new generation of kids.

In the early 2000's on a trip to Geneva on the Lake, Ohio, a tavern we stopped in had uncovered an old Mangels' Shooting Gallery hidden behind a wall during a remodeling phase. What a joy it was to see this piece of history rediscovered. The shooting gallery's mechanical targets were still in operating condition. Oh I wish we could have shot the .22 rifle at the targets. The bar kept the shooting gallery up as a back drop behind the bar. A hammer was used to demonstrate how the bell (ringer) targets would ring.

With Sympathy,
