John J. O'Grady III

1933 - 2015

O'GRADY, III - John J. (Jack) of Garden City, New York passed away at the age of 82 on July 10, 2015. John was born in Queens, New York on March 21, 1933. He was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Harvard Law School. John spent his entire professional career practicing law with Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft in New York where he was a partner from 1966 to 1996, and where he maintained senior counsel status until his death. John is survived by his beloved spouse of 57 years, Mary (Molly) O'Grady, his children Glenn O'Grady (Peggy), Ellen Fitzgerald (Peter), Carol Costello (Mark) and Paul O'Grady (Karen), his eight grandchildren, Ryan, Colleen, Kevin, Cassie, Stephen, Michael, Emily and Declan, and his sister, Maureen Clancy. A wake will be held at Fairchild Sons, Inc. in Garden City on Monday July 13, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Church of St. Anne in Garden City at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the College of the Holy Cross, 1 College Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
