Lena Konyar Obituary

TREVORTON — Lena E. Konyar, 78, of 713 W. Market St., passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Nov. 5, 1932, in Red Cross, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Anna L. (Erdman) Bucher. She lived most of her life in Trevorton.

She was a 1949 graduate of Trevorton High School.

On Nov. 24, 1951, in St. Patrick's Church, Trevorton, she was married by the Rev. Bolen to John J. Konyar, who survives. They were married for 59 years.

Lena devoted her life to being a housewife and mother.

She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Trevorton, the Trevorton Senior Action Center and Trevorton American Legion Post 92 Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies were bingo, variety puzzles, reading and playing cards.

In addition to her husband, she was survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ray Krieger, of Allenwood; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Monica Konyar, of Hughesville, John and Julia Konyar, of Dover, and Ty and Melissa Konyar, of Halifax; five grandchildren, Angela, Alyssa, Jon, Jason and Chelsea; six great-grandchildren, Taiten, Thayne, Tralyn, Eveyn, Ava and Jay, and a sister, Shirley Maurer, of Dornsife.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Deppen, and a brother, Paul Bucher.

KONYAR — Lena E. Konyar, 78, of 713 W. Market St., Trevorton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, with the Rev. Adrian Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Trevorton. Viewing will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday in the church. The Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lena's memory to the Veterans Memorial Fund, 527 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton 17881.

John and family,

We were so sorry to hear of Lena's passing and, because we were away, unable to attend her services. I have so many good memories of times spent together when we were younger. She'll be missed by so many.
