John Treese

SHAMOKIN DAM — John Joseph Treese Sr., 74, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at his home in Shamokin Dam, with his wife by his side.

John was born Jan. 10, 1942, a son of the Late Andrew and Agnes Treese.

He graduated form Shamokin Area High School in 1960.

He served as a supply sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Washington state.

He married his wife, Norma Shirley Bidelspach, Sept. 7, 1974.

John was a concrete mason and a 40-year member of of the Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' Union Local 592. Over the years he worked for King Construction, Frank Skepton Inc. and many others. Long-time friend and employer Frank Skepton said that John was a skilled cement finisher who did quality work and had pride in each job he did.

John was a devout Catholic who regularly attended both St. Pius X in Selinsgrove and St. Monica's Catholic Church in Sunbury.

He loved sports and spent years as an athlete. His favorite sports were football and baseball, with the Phillies being one of his favorite teams.

John was a loving husband and proud father of four.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; four sons, John Jr., James, Franklin and William; siblings, Matthew Treese and his wife, Loretta, Thomas Treese and his wife, Jane, Michael Treese and his wife, Barbara, Joe Treese and his wife, Tina, Andrew Treese and his wife, Rosemary, Gloria Treese, Mary Ellen Treese and Carol Kodak; brothers-in-law, Harry Bidelspach and his wife, JoAnn, Truman Bidelspach and his wife, Mary, and Benjamin Bidelspach and his wife, Cathy.
