Izidor Barelka Obituary
Celebration of life in memory of Paul will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 4, 2013, at Mid-Valley Senior Center, 11975 W. Mid-Valley Way in Houston, Alaska. Sergey Zagorodniy will be officiating.
Paul was born May 15, 1929, in Lakewood, Ohio, to Paul and Mary Barelka.
He graduated from Lakewood High School and attended Kent State University in Ohio.
Paul served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and conducted the jamming of the Berlin Wall.
He later moved to Alaska in 1965 and lived in areas such as Point Barrow, Fairbanks, and Wasilla, and settled in Houston. He worked on the trans-Alaska oil pipeline, but found his passion working as a hard-rock miner and prospector. He always enjoyed a good book too.
Brother Paul, a family man and devout Christian, believed deeply in the Lord Jesus. He now rest with him.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary (Nadvide); son, Steven Barelka; brother, Max; and sister, Olinfia.
He is survived by his son, Eric; daughter, Catherine; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Joann Barelka; brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Marlene Barelka; and friend, Don Hale.
Memorial donations may be made to Disabled Veterans.

Brother Paul was a wonderful fella that I had the pleasure of meeting in Fairbanks, Alaska. I immediately sensed a genuine difference about this guy and I immediately learned that this difference was Jesus Christ who both Paul and I fervently believed was our God and Creator of both Heaven and Earth! Paul I am sorry to hear of your passing but I am comforted in knowing where you currently are and I am looking forwarde to the day that I sincerely believe that you and I shall meet again. Yes indeed brother Rest In Peace!
