Simon Everett Obituary
Raleigh
Born November 22nd 1983, in Raleigh and died tragically June 12th 2014. Simon was the oldest son of Justus and Becky Everett, brother to Jane Everett Goering and her husband Matt Goering, Bob Everett and his fiancée Ashlyn Seeley, Padowithz Alce and his wife Shonda and their son Aiden. His grandparents, Lefty and AC Barefoot, his aunt Susan Everett and her husband Don Hicks, Al and Susan Barefoot, and Jim Barefoot and his wife Wendy Miller, and his four cousins will remember him fondly.
Simon attended Enloe High School, Hampden-Sydney College, and Wake Forest. He returned to Raleigh and was a founding partner of Walk to State, LLC, a property management company. Simon touched many lives and was involved in the community as an Assistant Scout Master for BSA Troop 207, White Memorial Presbyterian Church middle school youth advisor, Kiwanis, Rotary Club, Step Up Ministry, and numerous other activities being continuously revealed to the family. He cherished his time working with children at Camp Mondamin, where he was both a former camper and a counselor.
Simon is one of nine Eagle Scouts transcending three generations of the family. He obtained three gold palms after earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He achieved many milestones in his professional career including being a real estate broker in charge, a licensed general contractor, private pilot, scuba diver, skydiver, and a commercial driver with all available endorsements. He loved engaging and serving other people, friends and family, with his friend Matt Zaytoun, he would cook bar-b-que and craft a gathering for any occasion. Zach Simmons and Simon developed a lifelong friendship, love of hard work, and laughter beginning at three years old.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday in Pickard Hall at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. A Witness to the Resurrection to celebrate Simon's life will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, June 17th at church.

I worked closely with Simon when he was a student at Hampden-Sydney College and met once with him and his dad together. I have worked here for fourteen years and very few students have touched me as Simon has. I have never met anyone with more of a zest for life and desire to live to the fullest. My parents were close friends with his grandparents, Mac and RO Everett, whom I absolutely adored. I met Simon while attending Hampden Sydney, and He and I were on the Hampden Syndey VFD together. He was such a fun person to be around. He never met a stranger and never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. My heart goes out to his family and all who were close to him. I haven't kept in touch with him since I left HSC but I grieve for his loss as if I saw him yesterday. It is my deepest regret not to be able to make it for funeral to say goodbye to a friend.

My heart is broken at the sudden and tragic loss of sweet Simon. He lived life out loud and at full speed. His charming sense of humor, authentic spirit and well mannered disposition were a rare combination. The light of Jesus brightly shined in every encounter Simon had with someone. It is devastating to us that God called him home far too early, but I am eternally thankful for the life altering impact Simon had on my life and this world. I have a feeling that Simon is throwing a big tailgate in heaven right now in honor of his homecoming, and it is likely one of heavens biggest and best parties it's ever seen!! Turner, AKA Simon Everett will never be forgotten by the 4 year old class at Raleigh PreSchool, AKA, The Raleigh School or by me. I was the lucky teacher who helped Turner paint with fish and spaghetti, devise a performance and colorful costume for Circus Day, craft a sing-along for Cowpoke Day, snap beans, make a terrarium, and other Great Adventures, all made more exciting because Turner was right in the middle of all of the activity. He brought a gentle kindness to the class, and though he presented as the All American boy, he didn't have to be rough and tumble and made friends with everyone. He was especially caring of those who were hesitant to join in and went over to them and helped them become part of the group activity. He adored his parents and siblings, always introducing Bob as "my brother, B*O*B, Bob. My 47 years of teaching have introduced me to many wonderful children, none more gifted and caring than Turner. I'll always remember Turner as a 4, a child destined to be a success at whatever he chose to do, and at the same time humble and ready to put others forward because that was his way. I am better for having known him and heartbroken at his loss. I will always remember him as a shining star.
