Sara Sheehan Obituary

Sara "Sally"
Mosher Sheehan
March 3, 1915 – March 18, 2013
Durham
Sally was born the youngest of six children to Elwyn and Estelle Mosher in Northville, NY. She graduated from the University of Rochester and pursued a career in retail until her marriage to Joseph Sheehan in 1942. From that time, life was full of friends, travel and adventure. She had friends literally all over the world – having lived in Virginia, New York, Paris, Tunis, and Tampa before settling in Durham. Her interests and passions were numerous, but centered on family and friends, and the Girl Scouts.
Sally was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joseph. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Tom Schick, two grandchildren – Sarah (Dan) Porper of Cary, NC and Jonathan (Shawna) Schick of Anchorage, AK, and four great-grandchildren – Rivers, Amelie and Margot Porper and Carter Schick.
Sally was interesting, interested, sensitive, and warm and loved by all. She leaves us with delightful, meaningful, and loving memories.
A memorial and burial will take place in June in Northville, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Duke Eye Center, the North Carolina Symphony, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Forest at Duke for their love and devotion.
