Daniel Whitley Obituary
Knightdale
Daniel Ervin Whitley, 78, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Wake Med. He was born January 22, 1937 in Wake County to the late Owen Ruffin Whitley and Lessie Wall Whitley. He graduated from Knightdale High School in 1955. Ervin honorably served his country in the US Air Force. He was the owner of Ervin Whitley Grading and Hauling Contracting Company.
Graveside service 11:00 am, January 14, 2016 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, 27545.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, January 14, 2016 at Knightdale Baptist Church, 15 Main Street, Knightdale, 27545. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.
Surviving: daughter, Crystal Ann Whitley and her mother, Barbara Johnson Whitley both of Archer Lodge; sisters: Thera W. Chapin of CA, Carolyn W. Shropshire of Raleigh, Sandra W. Massey of Knightdale; brothers: Dwight A. Whitley of Knightdale, Billy Whitley of Greensboro; special friend, Patricia Mangum of Wendell; several nieces and nephews; special friends: James Hoggard, Lester Barham; and other close friends.
In addition to his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by brothers: Lawrence A. Whitley, Robert E. Whitley; sisters: Arthelia W. Whitley, Velma W. Snipes, Margaret W. Oglesby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knightdale Baptist Church or Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to a charity of your choice.

Thank you Barbara for almost 34 years of fond memories of you and Ervin. You have both been so good to me and I will always treasure these memories living on Lassiter and seeing all the houses being constructed in Sandy Woods and all the ponds Ervin built. Truly a lovely place and he enjoyed coming out here. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.
