Lawrence Bloomer Obituary

Lawrence George Bloomer
"Larry"
Raleigh
Lawrence George Bloomer (Larry) of Raleigh, NC passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 19 at 43 years.
Larry grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and graduated from Walt Whitman High School and UNCW in Wilmington, NC.
Larry met the love of his life Kara Ruebesam while working at the News & Observer, and they were married on February 21, 1998 and recently celebrated their 15th anniversary. He was a devoted family man, and his daughter Alexis Chase Bloomer was his princess. Larry worked in a variety of technical companies in Research Triangle Park and most recently was employed by Nimble Storage. He enjoyed tinkering with computers, keeping up with the latest technology and was the IT professional for family and many friends. Larry was an able and generous friend to many. He had a lifelong passion for hockey and played in adult leagues with many friends and naturally was an avid Carolina Hurricanes fan. As an accomplished hobby photographer, he captured the love he had for his family and life.
He is survived by his wife, Kara; daughter, Alexis and unborn twins due in early April; parents, George & Judith Bloomer of Pittsboro; brother, Bill Bloomer of Germantown, MD; sister, Barbara Rosenberg (Stuart) of Raleigh; sister, Susan Bloomer of Rockville, MD; sister, Nancy Hines (Tom) of Severna Park, MD; brother, Jim Bloomer (Jeanne) of Rockville, MD; sister, Helen Bloomer of Raleigh; in-laws, Richard and Diane Ruebesam of Raleigh; brother-in-law, John Ruebesam of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Cheryl Hill (Joe) of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Linda Edmundson (Kyle) of Raleigh; brother-in-law, Ryan Ruebesam (Sharon) of Raleigh; and 26 nieces and nephews and 6 cousins.
A private family service will be held in the coming days. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Road, Raleigh for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully received by Larry and Kara's daughter and their future unborn twins in the name of Alexis Chase Bloomer at 6901 Bent Pine Place, Raleigh, NC 27615 to fund their future education. The family wishes to thank the employees of The News and Observer and Nimble Storage and the staff of The Raleigh School for their tremendous love and support.

Thanks to Nancy and her family for extending this rememberence of Larry's life.
I only new Larry as young boy up to and about the age of 10 years old. I remember well of his sisters taking good care of him and he being young at an era when Jaws, Star Wars and the 6 Million Dollar man were his favorite movies and TV shows.
I am learning from reading these entries and other items posted on social media have come to learn that Larry grew up and became a fine man, husband, much loved and loving brother and a loving proud father. May God Bless Larry and his families, including the newborns. I pray that they are healthy and happy.

I will miss you immensely. You and I were two of a kind! We met at a conference 10 years ago, became fast friends and kept up with each other ever since. I enjoyed all of the great times we had just talking and hanging out every time I was in town. You always made time for me and now I cant tell you what that meant to me.

There is no doubt you will be missed by all of your family and friends. I'm sure you are sitting up there somewhere with you best dog Stormy, playing catch and watching over the rest of us. Love you man.

Larry even in death you are still with us. Kara joked about how you finally got her to the hospital as the twins, Lawrence George Jr. and Ashleigh Lawrence were born the day after your funeral. She said she felt you were telling her to move on as was always your fashion and not to wallow in sorrow waiting for the next 10 days to have those babies. We know you a watching over them and Kara and Alexis! Your love will be with us always and we know we are going to have lots of Larry moments when we sense your spirit with us. Love you forever!

His last conversation with our office was about getting the twins room ready. Family was always first. May God Bless You and keep you during this time.
