Chester Nedwidek Obituary
November 1, 1927 - May 18, 2017
Pollocksville
Chester (Chet) Albert Nedwidek Jr., of Pollocksville, NC passed away peacefully at his home May 18, 2017. He was born November 1, 1927 in Bayside NY. Chet graduated from Bayside High School. He then graduated from Columbia University with a BA in 1949 and a BS degree in Industrial Engineering in 1952. He also received a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from NC State in 1992 at age 65. He moved to Aiken, SC after attending Columbia. His position at the Savannah River Plant was Intermediate Reactor Department Engineer. DuPont transferred him and his family to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he was the Senior Engineer at the nylon plant. He moved to Cary, NC in 1969 to work for the textile company Beaunit. After Beaunit was sold he opened General Personnel. Next he started working at the NCDOT, GIS Unit. He retired from NCDOT as Assistant Director after 18 years of service.
Chet is a military veteran of WWll. He was a medic in the 20th Army Air Corps stationed in Guam. He always enjoyed telling his stories while serving his country.
Chet's passion was woodworking. He was an active member of several local Raleigh woodworking clubs.
He also loved playing Santa Claus for years and years at South Hills Mall.
Chet is survived by three sons, Chet Nedwidek lll of Pollocksville, NC, John Nedwidek and his wife Carolyn of Victoria, BC, and Michael (Ned) Nedwidek and his wife Sheri of Raleigh, NC. Four grandchildren, Chet Nedwidek lV, Brett Nedwidek both of Raleigh, NC, Honora Nedwidek of Montreal, CA and Sophie Nedwidek of Victoria, BC. One Great Granddaughter Harmony.
Memorial service will begin 11:00am June 17, 2017 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 221 Union St., Cary, NC 27511.

I have a bowl that Chet made from the wood of a tree that had to come down at St. Paul's to make way for new building. I am sorry for your loss.
