Born April 6, 1933, Theodore Roger Wirtz went home to the Lord as he passed away peacefully holding the hand of his loving wife of 33 years, Geraldine Wirtz, Sunday, March 29 2015. He was a wonderful father to his children, Wendy Bayona and husband Ramon, Julie Wirtz, David Babcock, his wife Angela and Robert Babcock. He was a very special grandfather to his 7 grandchildren, Mindy and James Theodore Malott, Morgan and Lindsay Bayona; Hunter, Dylan and Miles Babcock. He is also survived by his brother John Wirtz his wife Judith, sister in law Kathleen her husband William Nachtrab and brother in law Nick Curto. Preceded in death by his parents Wilmer and John Wirtz and by his sister Lucille and brother in law Carl Swanson.

Ted was born in New York, NY. He attended grade school in White Plains ,NY and graduated from Jamestown High School in Jamestown, NC. He played both football and baseball and was an infielder on the Greensboro record All-County '51 baseball team. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Management in 1956 from Georgia Tech where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a member of the Army reserve and did his basic training at Fort Bliss, TX, and was appointed the Commission of 1st Lt. Artillery Division. He traveled with the USO during the Korean War entertaining our troops as a singer and musician in Japan and Korea.

After graduation the majority of his professional career was spent in the Engineered Fabrics Industry with the Dexter Corp in Connecticut and in 1996 became President and CEO of INDA, the Non -Woven International Trade association in Cary, NC. After 38 years in the nonwoven industry he retired in 2003 to make time for golf, travel and his quest for the perfect Margarita.

He was a golf member of Prestonwood CC, a world traveler, coach, mentor, beautiful guitar player and singer, and Civil War buff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to www.EnableAmerica.org (serving wounded warriors and disabled veterans). Memorial services will be Saturday, April 25th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 221 Union St., Cary at 4:00pm.
