Nirmala Amaldoss Obituary
March 17, 1962 - June 23, 2017
Chapel Hill
Dr. Nirmala Mathew Amaldoss, M.D., age 55, of Chapel Hill died June 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kerala, India to Philomena Joseph and the late Dr. Thomas Mathew. Nirmala was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill.
Dr. Nirmala Amaldoss was an Attending Physician at the Emergency Department of the Durham VA Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine at Duke University.
In addition to her mother, Nirmala is survived by her husband of 24 years, Wilfred Amaldoss of Chapel Hill; her children, Bernard Amaldoss and Nicole Amaldoss; and her sister, Patricia Thomas.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Fr. Scott McCue presiding. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
Friends may visit Monday, June 26, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Duke Cancer Institute, 710 W. Main St., Durham, NC 27701.

My sincerest condolences to all,
I did not know her personally, only through occasional work interactions. However, I could tell that she was a great person through how highly the patients spoke of her. I thank her for her commitment towards helping others. She is a treasured asset and will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the Amaldoss family. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Amaldoss she was an amazing person, good friend and doctor, my heart is heavy right now I've worked with Dr.Amaldoss for almost 10 years. I was not able to attend the service but I send all my love and prayers to the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mother was my Dad's doctor at the VA Hospital for years. She took excellent care of him and was always there to help me with questions and concerns. What a beautiful person she was to us! Prayers to your family! We will miss you Dr. Almadoss. The Rose Family
