Justine was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 6, 1927 to the late Edmund and Florence Cleary. She was an accomplished pianist, and graduated from Eastman School of Music in 1949. Justine married Donald Johnston on July 23, 1949 and moved to Tampa, Florida. They moved to Cary, NC in 2001. Justine is survived by Donald, her husband of 67 years, her children: Kathy Johnston Thom (John), Jennifer Johnston Cooper (Joseph), Donald Christopher Johnston (Jennifer) and Betts Johnston Willman (Jimmy); five grandchildren: Clark Cooper, Julie Cooper Colman, Paige Willman, Troy Willman and Connor Johnston. A Celebration of Justine's life will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Cary NC on Friday, August 26 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC, 27607, or online: transitionslifecare.org/donations.
