To Dr. Block's family- I am a neighbor and friend of Dr. Block and Miriam's through my late grandparents James and Cora Liles. He was quite a fan of my grandmother's orange cupcakes and will be sorely missed. You all are in my prayers.-DIane Burns

Death was not God's original purpose for us. It is something for which we can never be completely prepared. The Bible says: "Time indefinite God has put in our hearts" (Ecclesiastes 3:11) He created us with the desire to live forever. And he opened the way for that desire to be fulfilled at John 3:16.

Dr. Block was my adviser in the late 80s and early 90s. He always had a smile, an encouraging word and a story to tell you. He had a zeal for whatever he was doing that was infectious and flowed over to those around him. You would bump into him in the hallway and next thing you know he had signed you up for some task, perhaps to be a marshal for graduation. Dr. Block was a wonderful teacher and friend and I think of him often. He will live on in all of us who had the privilege to know him. My sympathy to the family.

Dr. Block was a wonderful professor, mentor and friend. I will miss knowing he is in this world! He also took many lovely photographs of his students & our families; I'll look for some to share.

My sincere condolences to the family. It is truly a blessing William lived a long life because so many people will never see his age. It reminds me of Psalms 90:10 "the span of our life is 70 years or 80 if one is especially strong". I know William will always be remember by all he has touched over the years.
