Doug & Sherri,
It is so evident from these entries that Ray was a very special young man, no doubt a reflection of the love and guidance you two bestowed on him as he grew into a young man. You are in our prayers. May you feel the Grace of our loving God.

We've know Ray ever since they moved in next to us maybe 15 years ago. He was always such a nice, sweet kid, and he grew into a fine young man. He will really be missed.

I played soccer with Ray for my entire elementary and middle school times, Those times were some of my greatest memories and I always saw Ray with a smile on his face, and he always put a smile on mine. He was one of the greatest people I ever knew.

I only knew Ray for a couple of months, but when I received the email saying he had passed away, I knew exactly which one of my 250 students he was. I taught Ray at NC State this sememster. I wondered how easily I could become attatched to students in a short period, such as a semester. It was students like Ray that made it happen. It was difficult not to call his name this week as I was taking roll. He has been in my thoughts constantly this week, and you all in my prayers. I will miss his smiling face and positive energy. I just wish I could have known him longer. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Ray brought so much sunshine into everyone's life. I so loved sitting at the pool talking to him. He could be funny and then turn serious when the subject turned serious. He was a joy and will always be in my heart.

When I was supposed to be the leader and teacher, Ray is the one who taught me. Even though he was a youth he taught me how to love my sister and how to cherish being a son. Ray is an example of what it is to be living and not just to have life. God breathed living beings and Ray definitely lives through God. May your tears be gathered and your pain be swallowed by the love of your friends. We love you all.

Along with my wife, I wanted to express that we are deeply saddened and heartbroken by your loss. For us, your loss is especially heartbreaking and we feel a profound spiritual bond to you because of our own circumstances of the sudden death of our young daughter not long ago. Sherri,
A few years back, Ray asked if we could "make a fuss" about the decoraring you did for one of the pool parties. He said that you worked hard on everything, and that he wanted you to feel appreciated. I remember thinking how lucky you were to have such a thoughtful son who cared so much about his mother. May God's grace carry you and your family through this difficult time.

Dear Family,

I was Ray's Culinary Arts Teacher at Apex High School. Ray was such a great student and a person full of integrity. What a wonderful reflection of a great family. He always had a smile and was so genuine... He even came back to visit me 2x's at Apex High School after he graduated. I was very impressed by his character and sincerity... My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. May our gracious Lord be with you all and bring you peace and comfort that surpasses all earthy understanding.
