Bruce Lindquist of Cary, NC passed away peacefully on July 28th at the age of 85. Bruce was preceded in death by his mother Beulah Gurke, father Glenn Lindquist, son Christopher, and brothers Richard and Robert. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Katherine Lindquist. They were married in Cary on June 30, 1990. He is lovingly remembered by his sons: David (wife, Therese) of Chapel Hill, NC, Stephen (wife, MaryAnn) of Rhinebeck, NY, Thomas (wife, Felicia) of Chanhassen, MN, Robert (wife, Wendy) of Madison, AL and their mother Virginia Lindquist of Cary, NC; his step-children Caroline Wood (partner, Bruce Norris) of New York, NY and Thomas Wood of Santa Monica CA; his siblings Carol Taylor (husband, Robert) of Peachtree City, GA, and brothers Ken (wife, Phyllis) and Keith (wife, Donna) both of Hampshire, IL; and his ten grandchildren Erika (husband, Ose), Christopher, Daniel, Zachary, Ryan, Paige, Caitlin, Victoria, Connor and Jordan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bruce was born February 10, 1931 in Carpentersville, IL. He graduated from Dundee High School and went on to earn a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Sloan Technical Fellowship from MIT. He spent his entire career with IBM in a variety of roles in Poughkeepsie, NY and Cary, NC.

Bruce was truly blessed and led a very happy and productive 85 years. His love of the outdoors, particularly gardening, was matched by his love of people and food. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and friend to all. Bruce's smile and storytelling brought joy and peace to everyone he met. He was deeply committed to his faith and relied on the grace of God through good times and bad. Bruce will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his friends and family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cary. The family will receive friends at a reception and celebration of his life in St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian Homes Foundation for Glenaire at 4000 Glenaire Circle, Cary, NC 27511, or St Paul's Episcopal Church at 221 Union St, Cary, NC 27511, or Transitions Life Care at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

I want to send my condolences to Kay, his Sons, and family.
Bruce was a very special person to me, as he was to the Lindquist, Gurke family. He was so much like his Dad. He is at peace now
