Miss Barrett was my guidance counselor at Enloe High School in 1963 and 1964. She influenced my decision to go to UNCG, and my life was never the same after that. She also influenced my decision to become a teacher and educator, and that has been the most fulfilling career I can imagine.

We were all so sadden to learn of Judy Barrett passing...she was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. Also, her contribution to the Wake Co. Historical Society, her love of her family, and guidance to everyone she met. A loss for all; however, she is at peace and shall be missed.

Judy was my mentor when I worked on a Master's in Guidance Counseling. I did an internship under her supervision at Enloe High School. She was such a nice person - warm and kind, always positive, very helpful, and fun. I loved knowing her. Then, a few years ago, when I became a docent at the Art Museum, I ran into her again. We enjoyed catching up. I am sad that she is gone, but I am thankful for the many lives she touched in such a good way. My best to all her family.

I am a fitness instructor at the Rex Wellness Center where Judy was a member for many years. She was one of my favorite participants in my water aerobics class. I loved her for her positive attitude, and I enjoyed our conversations after class. Wherever she is now, it is a happier place for having her.

It was a true pleasure growing up in the house next to Judy's. I will remember her as a gentle, wonderful woman who was always ready with a kind word and bright smile. Judy, and the many wonderful stories she had, will live on in the hearts of those of us who were lucky enough to know her.

Judy, as I knew her, will be greatly missed. She was a dear friend to a mutual friend, the late Dr. Laura Anderton, and an inspiration to all of her Gamma Iota sisters. Please know that she was well loved in Raleigh, NC.

A wonderful lady who provided encouragement and friendship to all
who knew her. Her laugh and stories she shared of travels and experiences in education and Delta Kappa Gamma are good memories.
She was a source of inspiration for all in our Gamma Iota chapter. Many
good memories are cherished of this great lady!
