Don's 4 year battle with cancer ended August 20, 2017. He was born in Santa Barbara November 9, 1953 to Clyde and Clementine (Allen) Delaney. Don was proud of being born and raised in Santa Barbara and of his 29 years of service as a driver for UPS. He loved nature, Alfa Romeos, all forms of music, especially his beloved Beatles. He loved sports, particularly tennis and baseball, "GO DODGERS!"
He leaves cherished friends; you know who you are, and his beloved family, his wife and best friend of 33 years, Sue, his son, his heart, Sean, his brother Bob (Susie) and their family; brother-in-law John (Mona) and their family and his sister-in-law, Jan (Bob).
The family sends appreciation to Dr. Mark Abate, Dr. Warren Suh, the nurses and all the Cancer Foundation staff that have been his support team.
If you are inclined to make a donation in his memory, please remember Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara or Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara.

Don was my UPS driver for 25 years First At Richards Accurate Automotive and then at MacMechanic where I employed Sean his son...Any time that I wound up with County Bowl tickets I would take Don and his wife because Don was a walking Music encyclopedia! Don was such a decent, caring person.. When I leaned about the Cancer 4 years ago I thought they had caught it in time so he could enjoy his retirement. Don was so full of life and he had an Amazing energy level! We called him the Energizer Bunny..... Susan, you need to know how many people loved and would write if they knew of Dons passing....

Oh, no. I knew Don from SBHS. When I heard about Don's cancer, I meant to seek him out to say farewell. It would have been a sorrow to me, but I should have told him how much I would miss seeing him around. A wonderful, wonderful man. I loved how he would always wave to me, from his UPS Van or when he was out running, whenever and wherever our paths happened to cross. It was fun being locals and recognizing that. Like our little secret. His terrific smile, that bowl haircut.. Such a happy, sweet guy. Farewell, Don. You will be missed.

We are sorry to hear of your loss. Saying good bye to a loved one is so very difficult. Cherish all of your memories. A special note to Sean: We know your dad was a guiding light in your life. Hold fast to your memories of your dad. We are sorry you had to say good-bye so soon.
