Cecilia T. Nielsen

Cecilia T. Nielsen, age 81 of Newtown, formerly of Fairfield and Brookfield, beloved wife of the late Robert Nielsen passed away peacefully Monday, November 29, 2010 at Masonicare of Newtown. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late James and Mary Thompson, she had been a long-time Fairfield resident prior to relocating to Brookfield in the mid 1990's. Mrs. Nielsen was a retired secretary for the Fairfield Board of Education. She was a member of the Brookfield AARP and The Red Hats. While living in Fairfield she was a long time member of First Church Congregational. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Pamela N. Cheh and her husband Joseph of Brookfield; two granddaughters, Amy and Sara and her great grandchildren. Additionally she is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Throupe and her husband Kenneth of Bethel and Patricia Nealy of Arizona; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Road, Fairfield with the Rev. David Spollett officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Nielsen may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy., Suite 100, Rock Hill, CT 06067.
