Dr. S. was my pediatrician, long before I became a physician myself, and was a role model to the profession. He sutured me, vaccinated me, and otherwise treated me on many occasions. Grateful for his excellent care.

My two sons were cared for by Dr. Scholan. He came to our apartment in Bridgeport one day. Dr. Scholan and my sick little son sat on the sofa. The TV was on. Suddenly on TV we all witnessed Lee Harvey Oswald being shot by Jack Ruby. Dr. Scholan and I never forgot this moment.
It saddened me to learn that Dr. Scholan had died. He was a fine gentleman. My condolences to his family at this sad time.

God blessed our family by having Dr. Scholan care for both of our children - from birth until they were in their early 20s. He was a kind, generous and caring man with a lovely smile. He really was interested in his patients and families beyond attending to their medical needs.

To the family of Dr. Scholan thank you for sharing him with his extended patient family of which our family was honored to be a part of. I know we took him away from your family. May you find comfort in his memory. He was a fine man that lived life well and for the betterment of all.

To the Scholan Family, please except my deepest sympathy. Also one of the thousand children in town who was lucky enough to have Dr.Scholan as a pediatrician. Great memories of waiting my turn playing and enjoying the view of the water. I was one of the patients who managed to stay until I was 21 and in college. At which point Dr. Scholan sat me down and kindly explained to me it was time to go to a big person doctor. We laughed and I finally agreed. When I had my son I was lucky enough to have Dr.Scholan as his doctor until his retirement. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I and my 4 brothers were patients at the little Tide Mill office. Over the years whenever we were there, we were always treated and greeted with great concern and care. Dr. Scholan always showed love, gentleness, and genuine concern for everyone. He was a great asset to the Medical profession. He will be genuinely missed, he will live in the memories of the thousands that he cared for.

To Dr. Scholan's family, Dr. Scholan was such a wonderful, caring doctor...I never minded (too much) having to go see him as a kid! To this day, I tie my shoes in a special way that he taught me (because double knots were impossible to get out and regular tying methods always came undone). I am now a 3rd grade teacher and teach my students the "Dr. Scholan tie." It might seem like a small thing, but it's a legacy of his that will live on through me and all of the third graders who come through my classroom forever more. I am sorry for your loss...he was a wonderful man. You are in my thoughts.

So sadden to hear of the passing of Dr. Scholan. He was such a caring and understanding pediatrician. Most children hate going to the doctors, but I never had a problem with my children when it was time to go for their check up. Not even when they were sick. He always talked to them and made them feel at ease. When you had an appointment you knew you wouldn't have to wait very long. AND OH THAT TYPEWRITER!! and play area. How they loved it. Everytime I go back to Connecticut I take a ride by the building and it always brings back wonderful memories. This summer when I go back to visit it will be very sad to go by the building.

To the family of Dr. Scholan, my condolences. I was one of those thousands of children cared for by Dr. Scholan and Dr. Kueffner. That office, that place, on the water still holds fond memories and we look for that building every time we are in Southport! The typewriter in the office, the books and looking out that back window over the water will always be special. Dr. Scholan was a good man and we are sorry for your loss, our loss.
