Ella Raebiger Obituary

Ella Barchen Raebiger, age 101, formerly of Ridge-field, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4th, 2011. Ella was born in Lloydell, Pa., August 29, 1909. While on an ocean cruise to Europe, she met her husband to be, Otto Raebiger. They married in 1932 and resided in New York City until 1975 when they moved to Ridgefield. He died in 1977. Mrs. Raebiger is survived by two children, Otto Raebiger and his wife, Mico of Ridgefield and Joan Sheffer of Oakland, CA; six grandchildren, Marcelline Kochan, Debbie Marty, Gillian Sheffer, Stewart Sheffer, Todd Cassler and Craig Cassler and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Raebiger was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Cassler. She was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grand Mother and will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield at a time to be announced. Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.

What a sweet lady Ella was. I remember her so well. Her smile. Her sense of humor. Her beautiful sparkling white hair. My condolences to her son Otto & his family. It's said that "heaven is a beautiful place".
