Eugene Braunsdorf Obituary

Eugene B. Braunsdorf, "Gene" 87, of Sharon, formerly of Brookfield, Queens Village, NY, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 with his wife by his side. The son of the late Otto G. and Edna (Williamson) Braunsdorf. Eugene attended Franklin K. Lane High School. At age 18, he enlisted in the Army to serve his country in World War II. He saw combat for more than thirty months, during his time in the Pacific. He was wounded twice and awarded two purple hearts. By the time his tour of duty was up he had been promoted to Sargent and Squad Leader. When he returned to the states after he completed his tour of duty, Eugene attended a trade school where he recieved a degree in the traffic and transportation field. His degree earned him a Class B License to practice law in Transportation. Eugene worked for PepsiCo Corp. as a Assistant Manager of Transportation in the Traffic Department untill he retired. After he retired he continuted to consult making his employment at PepsiCo Corporation, over 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia H. (Svatuska) Braunsdorf. Eugene and Patricia have four children, Patrice J. Griffing of New Milford, Richard S. Braunsdorf and fiance' Merriann Hammond of Sharon, The late Eugene G. Braunsdorf and wife Catherine "Kitty" Braunsdorf of Sharon, Suzanne C. Jones and her husband, Christopher A. of New Milford; thirteen grandchildren, Amanda McCarvell, Crystal Griffing, Alyssa Griffing, Dakota Griffing, Dylan Griffing, Richard Hammond, Matthew Braunsdorf, Michael Braunsdorf, Meshell "Mia" Braunsdorf, Christopher Jones, Tyler Jones, Makayla Jones, Haylie Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Catera Oviatt, and Skylar Williams. Also survived by his brothers, William Braunsdorf of Orlando, FL. Robert Braunsdorf of Secaucus, N.J.; and five neices and nephews. Eugene enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather with a fun loving sense of humor. Eugene had a generous heart and was always there for others. He was a member of the local VFW in Brookfield, and the American Legion in Sharon. He enjoyed ice hockey and baseball. As a young man, he played second base for the New York Cubs. In addition played on PepsiCo company team. While living in Brookfield, he was a Brookfield Volunteer Fireman at Candlewood Company untill he moved to Sharon. Eugene also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and traveling as well as spending time with family and friends. A memorial service will be held in Mr. Braunsdorf's honor on Wednesday October 13, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Prince of Peace Church on Rt 133 in Brookfield, Ct. A small gathering to follow at the Braunsdorf Residence at 106 Lambert Road in Sharon, CT.

DEAR BRAUSDORF FAMILY, MY NAME IS ROSEMARIE AGUIRRE.. I WAS A FRIEND AND NEIGHBOR TO TRICE.... THEY CALLED ME 'ROSIE'...... I WAS LIVING WITH THE HASCUP FAMILY........ I WANT TO GIVE MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL THE FAMILY....I'VE TRIED IN THE PAST TO FIND YOUR FAMILY....... WE MISSED YOU ALL ALOT WHEN YOU MOVED OUT OF QUEENS VILLAGE....... I REMEMBER YOUR FAMILY ALL THE TIME.......HOW FAST WE GREW! OUR CHILDHOOD WAS WONDERFUL. BIKES AND SCOOTERS AND SWIMMING POOLS........ICE CREAM TRUCKS AND TRIPS TO EVERYWHERE...........I'M SO SORRY ALSO AT THE PASSING OF YOUR BROTHER EUGENE.......I REMEMBER HIM WELL......I ALWAYS THOUGHT OF YOUR MOM AND HOW MUCH FUN SHE WAS .
