Eugene Marcil Obituary

Eugene Edward Marcil, III, 67 of 61 Topstone Road, Ridgefield, CT died Tuesday evening at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Brenda Gleason Marcil. Mr. Marcil was born April 11, 1944 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Eugene E., Jr. and Elizabeth Issac Marcil. He attended St. Barnard Abbey in Cullman, AL and the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. Mr. Marcil served in the US Marine Corps from 1965 until 1968, was stationed in Naples, Italy. The Marcils married in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome in 1967. An employee with IBM from 1969 to 1999, he most recently served as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mr. and Mrs. Marcil lived in Paris from 1992 to 1997. A Ridgefield resident since 1981, Mr. Marcil was previously of Detroit, MI. After IBM, Mr. Marcil joined CAPCO and served as Chief Financial Officer in the New York office. He retired in 2009. Besides his wife of 44 years, survivors include two sons: Eugene Edward Marcil IV of Seattle, WA and Stephen G. Marcil of Atlanta, GA and his wife, Emily. One daughter: Maria T. Ausiello of Tyngsboro, MA and her husband, Al. His grandchildren: Christopher Ausiello, Nicholas Ausiello and Genevieve Marcil. Three sisters: Kathryn Mershon of Louisville and her husband, Todd Gardner. Margaret Marcil of Tallahassee, FL and her husband, William Bailey. Elizabeth Marcil of Maui, Hawaii. His in-laws: John and Jennie Cooler Gleason of Charleston, SC. One brother-in-law, John Gleason, III of Charleston, SC and his wife, Angela. Three sister-in-laws: Kathleen Ward of Florence, SC and her husband, Toby Ward; Loretta Leopold of Charleston, SC and her husband, Lowell Leopold; Rosemary Plumblee of W. Columbia, SC and her husband, Thomas Plumblee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at 10:15am at St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Ed was a very good friend from IBM Washington/Baltimore days. I was very sorry to hear of his passing and will miss him a lot. He was a great guy, a very smart business man, and a solid friend. His type do not come around often.
