Frank Butler Obituary

Frank M. Butler, lifelong resident of Danbury, passed away October 10, 2010, after a brief illness. He was 85. Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothea (Schaaf) Butler; their two sons, Gary S. Butler of Moretown, Vt. and Russell F. Butler of Haddam; and one grandson, Daryl Butler. He was prede-ceased by his brother, Edmond Butler. Frank graduated Danbury High School in 1942 and served in the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. In 1948, Frank met his bride at the Walter's Dude Ranch in Peekskill, N.Y. where they both worked summers as wranglers. The years at the dude ranch were some of their favorite memories. Frank competed in rodeos as a young cowboy until he broke his leg riding a bucking horse. Frank worked for 35 years as a quality control inspector at Consolidated Controls Corporation, now Eaton. Mr. Butler along with Ken Woodcock, started Boy Scout Troop #128 for mentally challenged boys. Frank was also a member of the Danbury Kiwanis Club. Dad was a great father, could fix anything and was a talented mechanic. He had a quick wit, laughed easily and was a voracious reader. Frank will be missed by his family and many friends in the Danbury area. Cards of sympathy may be sent to Dorothea Butler c/o Bethel Health Care 13 Parklawn Dr. Bethel, CT 06810 #216. Services will be held in Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St. Danbury, CT on October 23, 2010, at 1 p.m. No calling hours. Interment will be private.
