Helen Rowe Obituary

Helen T. Rowe, age 94 of Ridgefield, wife of the late Captain Edmund Rowe, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, July 13, 2011 after a long and fruitful life. Mrs. Rowe was born in Akron, Ohio, September 10, 1916, a daughter of Steve and Theresa Luckas who originally were from Hungary. A resident of Ridgefield since 1963 moving from California, she was a member of the Ridgefield PTA, a longtime volunteer at the Ridgefield Thrift Shop and attended St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she was active in the Church Guild. Mrs. Rowe was extremely talented at making items that she would donate to charities. She always believed that busy hands were happy hands. Some of her many crafts are displayed throughout the Ridgefield Community. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Carol Rowe from Newtown; a son, David Rowe and his wife, Tina of Mobile, Ala.; two grandchildren, Reneé and Steven Rowe; several nieces and nephews, as well as several friends. A Memorial Service will be conducted in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Ridgefield on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 at11am. Entombment will take place in the Crypt of St. Stephen's Church. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in Mrs. Rowe's memory and honor may be made to St. Stephen Episcopal Church, 351 Main St., Ridgefield. Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
