Joan Gould Obituary

Joan A. Gould, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at home in Melbourne, FL. She was born October 17, 1926 in Manhattan, NY to Carolyn (Spriggins) and Hugh Powers. She was the wife of Robert J. Gould. Mrs. Gould was a member of the Republican Town Committee in Brookfield and had been President of the Republican Women's Club while living there. She served on the Zoning Board and was a Justice of the Peace. She also was one of the founding members of the Carousel Players in Bethel. She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters Susanne (Sanford) Boughton of Danbury, Betty (Michael) Sassetti of Melbourne FL, Jayne Showah of Danbury, and Nanci (Geiger Snelgrove) Gould of Melbourne, FL. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Laura, Heather, Alison and Sam, and her six great grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan, Erin, Kayla, Aiden and Sienna. She leaves a sister, Dorothy Haight and was preceded in death by her sister Carol Ann Powers. A Memorial Service will be held at the Congregational Church of Brookfield at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Book of Remembrance in her name at the Congregational Church of Brookfield, Rt. 25 & 133, Brookfield, CT 06804.
