Marjorie McKenna Obituary

Marjorie A. McKenna, age 70 of Brookfield, previously of Norwalk, Bethel, and Venice, Fla., passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease on November 30th at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Geoffrey E. McKenna. Born on June 25, 1940 in Suffern, N.Y., she was the daughter to the late Alvin and Margaret (Kerekes) deFreese. Marge was a graduate of Norwalk High School, Class of 1959. She was an avid gardener, beachcomber, race fan, and loved crafting and spending time in the outdoors including RV camping with her family and friends. Tireless and selfless, she would often volunteer her time to assist various charitable causes, always willing to lend a hand up to those in need, providing counsel or simply listening, and quite often would have a house full of young people, but always passionate about her family and enjoyed family gatherings most of all. She leaves her husband, Geoffrey; her sons, Jeffrey, Arthur and his wife, Annette; brother, Craig deFreese and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Lauren, Morgan and Jackson, all of Conecticut; her brother, Robert deFreese of Florida; stepmother, Ann Brodie deFreese of Ohio; stepbrothers, Bruce, Eden and wife, Patsy of Ohio, and Chris and his wife, Ginny of Kansas; her sister-in-law, Jackie Quast and her husband, Hal of Georgia; many cousins and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100 Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or online at www.alz.org/ct Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
