George H. LeCates, Jr., age 81 of Ridgefield, died peacefully at the Danbury Hospital on Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was the loving husband of Lois Ann Tucker LeCates. Born in Norwalk on October 6, 1933, George was the son of the late George H. LeCates, Sr. and the late Ethel J. Drenyoczsky LeCates. He was a graduate of Bassick High School in Bridgeport, Class of 1951 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. George was retired from the Ridgefield School system where he had been maintenance foreman and previously has worked for Remington Rand, Hatch & Bailey and C.R. Gibson in Norwalk. He was also a member of the American Legion in Ridgefield.
In addition to his wife George is survived by his son George H. LeCates, III and his wife Evelyn of New Milford, his daughter Tracey Ann LeCates Petry of NC, his granddaughter Christine Sarah LeCates, brother and sister-in-law Alan and Judy Tucker of Norwalk, and many nieces and nephews. George was also predeceased by his sister Doris Savulski and his granddaughter Angela Karen D'Aquila.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 1 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
