Murrell G. Tutwiler

STAUNTON

Murrell Good Tutwiler, 98, a resident of Keezletown for more than 60 years, died Sunday (May 14, 2006) at Loyalton of Staunton.

Murrell was the daughter of John Michael and Letha Boyers Good, and was born Dec. 26, 1907, in Rockingham County, south of Harrisonburg.

Murrell was a 1927 graduate of Linville-Edom High School and was employed by the Stahl's Silk Mill for 15 years.

Murrell was a faithful member of the Keezletown United Methodist Church for 60 years and a member of the FCE Club, where she was awarded a 50-year attendance certificate and pin. She loved flowers and plants, and spent many hours working in her yard and garden.

On Dec. 23, 1933, she married Samuel Edward Tutwiler, who preceded her in death on June 20, 1973.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanford and Ellsworth Good; four sisters, Ruth Suter, Henrietta Tutwiler, Valley Page and Zovada Williams.

Murrell is survived by a son, M. Edward Tutwiler and his wife, Jacenta, of Waynesboro; and three grandchildren, Gregory E. Tutwiler and wife, Lisa, of Bridgewater, Douglas S. Tutwiler and wife, Donna, of Weyers Cave, Karen T. Galenis and husband, Kevin, of Waynesboro; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron, Justin, Emily and Hannah Tutwiler, Kyle, and Kendall and Kathryn Galenis; two sisters, Ruby McMichens of Bridgewater Home; and Letha Liskey of VMRC.

A service will be held in the Chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (May 17, 2006) with the Rev. Donald H. Hawks Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Keezletown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today (May 16, 2006) from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home or at the home of her son, Edward, at anytime.
