Juanita Via Ellis, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville, where the nursing home staff and family members have lovingly and compassionately cared for her over the past two years.

Mrs. Ellis was a member of First Christian Church in Waynesboro, Virginia. She retired from the Waynesboro School System where she worked in the cafeteria.

Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Ellis; a beloved daughter, Susan Ellis; two sisters, Katie Zimmerman and Thelma Johnson; and one brother, Charlie Via.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by two granddaughters; Jennifer and Randy Riddle, of Lynchburg; one brother-in-law, Larry Zimmerman and his wife, Mildred, of Waynesboro; a special niece, Brenda Ramp and her husband, Mike, of Baltimore; and a number of beloved nephews, Jim Zimmerman and his wife, Janet, of Richmond, Ron Zimmerman and his wife, Pauline, of North Carolina, Charlie Zimmerman and his wife, Sherry, of North Carolina, Frank Zimmerman and his wife, Jane, of Fishersville, Acey Zimmerman and his wife, Barbara, of Waynesboro, Wayne Zimmerman and his fiancee, Laura Knopp, of Lyndhurst, Paul and Larry Johnson of Baltimore, Kenneth Via and his wife Carolyn of Pennsylvania and Jerry Via of Pennsylvania.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro, Virginia, with Phil Forehand officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home, 618 West Main Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to Piedmont Hospice, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 2, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
