William Massey Obituary
SUN CITY, Ariz. - William Franklin "Bill" Massey, 68, formerly of Stuarts Draft, Va., died Wednesday (Oct. 12, 2005) at Boswell Hospital in Sun City. He was born June 21, 1937, in Augusta County, the son of the late James G. and Kathleen Wright Massey. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force from April 1955 to April 1963. After his military career, he worked at Phillip Morris in Richmond for 14 years. He then moved to Arizona, where he worked for Goodyear Aerospace and Revlon. Later, he owned and operated the Bethany Laundry and Dry Cleaning for 14 years. He then retired and moved to Sun City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Russell Massey on Oct. 26, 1986; a brother, James Massey; three sisters, Wilda Alice Massey, Virginia Louise Massey Almarode, and Frances Phyllis Massey; and an infant sister. Survivors include one son, Duane Scott Massey and his wife, Marla, of Leitchfield Park, Ariz.; one daughter, Melody Ann Massey Hegedus and her husband, Kent, of Goodyear, Ariz.; two sisters, Goldie Miller and her husband, Max, of Staunton, Va., Janet Forbes and her husband, C. Reed Forbes, of Stuarts Draft, Va.; one granddaughter, Christine Montgomery; two grandsons, Michael Ryan Massey and Kevin Robert Hegedus; one great-granddaughter, Audrey Ann Montgomery; four nieces, Lynne Jones, Sarah Kaplan, Sherry Doyle and Susan Almarode; and four nephews, Max B. Miller Jr., Anthony Forbes, Ronald Almarode and Jay Almarode. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday (Oct. 17, 2005) at the White Hill Church cemetery by the Rev. Dan Matthews. Military rites will be provided by the Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339. Active pallbearers will be John Riley, Steve Tillman, Fred Thacker, Leo Pannell, Harry L. Bradley, Melvin Bradley, Bill Forbes and Gene Kane. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Truslow, Max B. Miller III, Max B. Miller Jr., Anthony Forbes, Greg Kaplan, Ronald Almarode and Bruce Doyle. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 16, 2005) at the Reynolds Funeral Service of Stuarts Draft.
