Charles William Hoover Charles William Hoover, 73, of Waynesboro, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Augusta Health.

He was born on April 21, 1937, in Milboro, the son of the late Hunter Kyle and Lila Neff Hoover.

He served in the Virginia National Guard from 1955 until 1958, retired from Richards Janitorial Services and was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl H. Hoover; and three sisters, Carol Propst, Leona Chandler and Wilma Thrasher.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Hoover; a son, Thomas William Hoover of Staunton; a stepson, Reginald Wilson Benson of Jamestown, Ohio; brother, Clifford W. Hoover of Verona; and a sister, Mildred Burns of Staunton.

A private family graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Oak Lawn Cemetery of New Hope United Methodist Church by the Reverend Gene Williams, followed by a memorial service at a later date at Fishersville United Methodist Church.

Active pallbearers will be A.J. Botkin, Thomas Daggy, Dave Snyder, Boyd Shull, John Glick and Jim Hise.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Fishersville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1049, Fishersville, VA 22939.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
