Gladys Frances Colvin

Gladys Frances Coffey Colvin, 89, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

Born February 6, 1921, in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of the late Hansford Coffey and Sarah Houff Coffey.

Gladys was retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. She collected dolls and loved working in her flowers, both in her yard and on the porch.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Maxie Coffey; two sisters, Lucy Eavey and Betty Russell; and a son, Kenneth Lee Colvin.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles Lee Colvin; her son, D. W. Colvin of Waynesboro; her daughter, Jackie Smith and her husband, Lyn, of Lyndhurst; four grandchildren, Kimberly Fry, Michelle Terrell, Diana Cooper and her husband, David, and Penny Maybush; seven great-grandchildren, Trevor Terrell, Allison Fry, Angel Fisher, Shawna Callahan, Nicklous Callahan, McCalli Yancey and Laden Maybush, many nieces and nephews; her special friends, Mick and Ann Anderson, Lorene Grant, and many more friends; and her special companions, her dog, "Achilles" and her cat, "Teter".

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, Waynesboro, conducted by Pastor Paul F. LaPrevotte.

The family will be receiving friends at the family home on Frye Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her family.

Dear Charles, D.W, Jackie & Family,
My deepest condolences for your great loss. Miss Gladys was a fine lady with a loving heart.
