Janie Simmons Obituary
Janie Lucille Simmons Wheeler, 81, of Jefferson Highway, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2010.
She was born on September 11, 1929, in Deerfield, a daughter of the late Robert Samuel and Sarah Virginia (Simmons) Simmons.
Employed by Augusta County Schools for 45 years, she was a dearly loved member of the cafeteria staff at Wilson Memorial High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Winfield Wheeler; a sister, Ruby Thomas; and two brothers, Marvin Simmons and Robert S. Simmons Jr.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tonya Wheeler of Churchville; a sister, Helen Graham of Staunton; four grandchildren, Christopher Wheeler and his wife, Brittany, Traci Wheeler Jefferson and her husband, Chris, Zachary Wheeler, and Lucas Wheeler; three great-grandchildren, Makayla and Keegan Jefferson, and Avery Wheeler; and a nephew, Gerry Thomas.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010, at Augusta Memorial Park .
The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010, at the Bear Funeral Home.
