Leslie Leroy Flickinger Jr. STAUNTON

Leslie Leroy Flickinger Jr. of Bath Street, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 27, 2010, while on a cruise in the Caribbean.

He was born on August 26, 1950, in Middlebrook, a son of the late Leslie Leroy Sr. and Ethel Mae (Benson) Flickinger.

He attended Middlebrook and Beverley Manor Schools and graduated from Wilson Vocational School.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Flickinger was employed by Quick Livick Bus Company for 27 years.

Mr. Flickinger was a member of the Verona Moose Lodge #2172, and was the strongest supporter of the Staunton Braves, where he also served as a bat boy for a number of years. He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Family members include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Jeannie Flickinger of Fort Worth, Texas and James and Debbie Flickinger of Stuarts Draft; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sheila and Mickey Roberts, Felita Sanchez, Marie and Ronnie Gilbert, all of Staunton, and Judy and Lester Hughes of Middlebrook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin T. Fitzgerald and a nephew, Patrick Flickinger.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010, at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Reverend Robert A. Edwards. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Derek Flickinger, Chris Flickinger, Mike Flickinger, Ronald Wayne Gilbert, Tommy Hughes, Tim Mizer, Jeff Camden and Donnie Dellinger.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family and members of the Moose Lodge #2172.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Henry Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends at his residence at 2515 Bath Street in Staunton.
