"Pat" Gray

Lewis Atwell "Pat" Gray, 85, of Waynesboro, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.

He was born on July 27, 1925, in Botetourt County, son of the late Walter L. and Rebecca Nester Gray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Moyer Gray; and a sister, Ruth Taylor.

Mr. Gray was a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the N & W Railroad with 43 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and loved his cat.

Survivors include his children, Carolyn Gray Nicholls and her husband, Tom Jackie Gray Estes, Diane Gray Marion and her husband, Richard, Rodney Gray and his wife, Teresa, Connie Gray and Alice Jean Gray, all of Waynesboro; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Muriel Short of Roanoke. He is also survived by a special friend, Peggy Quick.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church with the Reverend Paul LaPrevotte officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, at Augusta Memorial Park.

Family and friends may visit the family at the residence of his daughter, Carolyn Nicholls, 21 Peak Lane, Waynesboro.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Lewis Gray's memory, to the Missionary Fund at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.

Dad I love you so much,its going to be hard to go on without you living next door,but I know you were sick,and tired, and was ready go to heaven and join mom there. I'm sure you both are together now in heaven,and probably helping take care of babies in heaven,and planting a garden so you can feed everyone! thanks to you & mom for helping me raise Koty, and everything else you both did for us.
