Rev. George Ervin Shreckengast

MILFORD - Rev George Ervin Shreckengast passed quietly into the arms of his Savior on Oct. 20, 2016 at home, after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Pepper; and by children, Victoria (William) Pierce of Philadelphia, Pa., Kimberly Moslen of Pittsburgh, Pa., Terrance (Rebecca) Shreckengast of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and two granddaughters, Hannah and Avra Shreckengast. Pastor Ervin was born in Tylersville, Pa. on Dec. 22, 1939 to the late Norbet & Jennie Shreckengast. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden and Eastern Pilgrim College in Allentown, Pa. He then earned a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. He began his ministry by filling the pulpit for the Wesleyan church in Neptune, N.J. He ministered for 40 years in the Church of the Nazarene in Pennsburg, West Mifflin, Hawthorn and Coraopolis, Pa.; Arcata, Calif.; Logan, Elkins, and Weirton, W.V. In semi-retirement, he pastored Pilgrim Chapel in Harrington, and Pilgrim Wesleyan in Milford. He was a compassionate and gentle shepherd. He loved Jesus, his family and his church families. He enjoyed his cars, RVs and travel. He visited 49 of the 50 United States, missing only Alaska. He also traveled to Canada and Mexico as well as Brazil with a Work and Witness missions group. The family will receive visitors at Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, on Monday, Oct. 24 from 6-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 12-1:00 p.m. where Funeral Services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
