Dear Nanette: I was very sorry to hear this news about Bill. When I was working as your assistant in the mid-1990s when your office was down the hall from Bill, little did I know then that romance was blooming in the SML collections. And I greatly cherished my experiences learning from Bill in two small classes - just a few students in the Babylonian collection, hearing a fully prepared lecture delivered from a small lectern in a small room surrounded by priceless artifacts, always brilliant. My deepest condolences to you and to his family.

Dear Nanette,
I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Bill. I know he fought a valiant battle for a number of years with you right there by his side. I do not know how many years the two of you had together, but I do know it was a beautiful friendship and marriage. Both of you glowed when I saw you together, and I'm sure that was the way it always was.
From a person who knows first-hand, the wonderful memories you treasure will keep Bill alive forever. Hopefully, you will remember all the happy times, because those times are a lasting legacy you will carry in your heart.
I'm sending you my most sincere sympathy.
With love,
Joanie
