ANTONETTE GIANGARRA Obituary

GIANGARRA, ANTONETTE C. Antonette Concetta Giangarra, age 93, wife of the late Benedict Giangarra, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2015. Born on February 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Placido and Laboria Scillia. Antonette was proud of her long and happy marriage to her husband Benedict; they married on July 5, 1948. She held a Master’s Degree in Education from Yale University and taught 7th and 8th grade. As a young mother, Antonette organized a swimming camp through the Red Cross and taught CCD. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, reading and swimming. Antonette leaves behind her sons, Paul, Phillip, Joseph and James Giangarra. She will also be missed by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her siblings, Carl, Leo, Grace and Lucy Scillia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd, Orange, CT. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, CT. Friends and family may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT.
