HAROLD RABINOWITZ Obituary

RABINOWITZ, HAROLD WOLF Harold Wolf Rabinowitz was born September 8, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. He died at home Sept. 1, 2015 surrounded by those he loved. He grew up in Stamford, CT, was a WWII veteran, and attended Yale School of Art where he received his MFA. Harold was an exceptional painter and inspirational art teacher. He taught in the Amity school system for 20 years and at the Creative Arts Workshop of New Haven, a public art school that had its beginnings in his Bethany home, a house he built stone by stone with the love of his life, Kiki. They were married for 69 years, had six children and began a family business, the Rabinowitz Design Workshop (now Witzend Workshop), which sells Twisteezwire and Waxmelters, products they invented for art students. His exuberant and creative spirit lives on through his children: Sandy, painter/sculptor; Michael, jazz bassoonist; Abbie, master painter; Rebecca, graphic arts/painter; and David, astrophysicist/ musician. His daughter Mary, poet/painter, died in 2007. He leaves behind seven creative grandchildren. The Monahan, Cox, Smith & Crimmins Funeral Home, 11 Wooster Place, New Haven was entrusted with arrangements.

Gone but never forgotten! I think of Harold every day with the fondest memories of our loving glances during the five years I returned home. The last few years of helping care for my dad and mom were some of the most precious. Love you Harold forever, and I miss your artistic advice more than one can imagine.

It was especially a pleasure to get to know Harold and your mom Kiki ! Your "3 Generations" show will always remain on my AzothGallery.com/gallery.htm page. I am indeed sorry for your loss. ~ Johnes
