Chelsa J. Stevenson

1927 - 2021

Chelsa J (Boynton) Stevenson March 6, 1927 - October 17, 2021 On March 6,1927 our mother was born in Tacoma to W. Chelse and Hilda (Kahl) Boynton. She was the first grandchild born into a close-knit family all living within walking distance of each other. Mom was destined to be an only child. Times were difficult but mom and her parents were a tight knit trio who managed to have many adventures.

While attending University of Washington School of Architecture in 1945 mom met a handsome cowboy at a friend's wedding. She married Jack Stevenson two years later and they spent the next 48 years happily loving each other.

The adventures continued for Mom as she added characters to her list of players. There were soon three kids to join the camping, fishing, and trips to various locations. A great weekend was made especially sweet when mom out-fished dad.

In 1964, with all the kids in school, mom decided to go to work. She took a six-week position working for a local civil engineer. She retired after twenty years to spend more time with dad.

Mom was creative, artistic, talented, and fiercely independent. With assistance from Pacifica mom lived in her own cottage until September. That is pretty impressive when you remember she was 94.

She leaves three children Bill (Trisha) Stevenson, Cathy Hammerberg, and Jackie (Peter) Despot. Seven grandchildren, Shawn, Laura, Jason, Carrie, Christa, Ashley, and Julie. She also had six "greats" who lit up her golden years: Aaron, Bryson, Madeleine, Kinsey, Jacob, and Ellie. She also leaves her dog Clancy who always knew exactly what she needed.
