Juliana Ruddy Obituary
Juliana (Julie) (Burkard) born in Queens, NY in 1926, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Cincinnati, OH. She was the oldest of four daughters of Philip and Charlotte (Viebrock) Burkard of Forest Hills, NY. Julie graduated from Mary Louis Academy and Good Council College in White Plains (College of White Plains). Additionally, she completed two years at Fordham Law School. Julie married Walter Ruddy, a WWII vet and Manhattan College graduate in October 1949, and they had three children- Richard, Barbara and the late Donald (1992). In addition to being a full-time mother, avid reader, knitter and bridge player, Julie was active in Glen Rock, NJ at the Public Library and St. Catharine's School, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the parish Rosary Altar Society. They lived in Glen Rock, NJ, from 1961 until moving to Cincinnati in 2009. Walter died in 2012. Julie is survived by two children - Barbara Ruddy (Denver, CO), her children - Nicole Baran, Eric and Lauren Zell Baran, and Andrew Baran; Richard Ruddy and Barbara Wriston-Ruddy (Cincinnati, OH), their children - Charlotte Rebecca and John Davis, Amanda and Meg Ruddy. A memorial service is to be planned. Memorials may be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the Gay Men's Health Crisis. Condolences to hodappfuneralhome.com

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
