He was born in York, Neb., on October 31, 1944, to the late Wesley E., and Lulu (Doremus) Yordt. Jimmy graduated from TJHS in 1963, then served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a clerk for the US Postal Service, retiring after 33 years of service, on January 1st, 2002. He was also a driver for Southwest Iowa Transport. Jimmy was a member of the VFW Post #737. He married Judy Rae Maltsberger on October 26th, 1963, and to this union two children were born.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy Rae, in 2001; and infant daughters, Vicki Lynn and Tammy Jo.
Jimmy is survived by son, Scott Yordt and wife, Angel, of Princeton, Minn.; daughter, Leslie Yordt, of Council Bluffs; granddaughters, Amber Nichole Yordt, and significant other, Lucas Bakken, Alicia Marie Yordt, Nichole Marie Yordt, and significant other, Tanner Jepperson; great grandchildren, Madison Mae and Jalyn Rae Bakken, Mariah Rae Yordt, and Brycen Jimmy Jepperson; brothers, Bob and wife, Connie, of Oceanside, Calif., Wesley and wife, Bridget, of Omaha, Neb., and Bruce and wife, Shirley, of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Karen Rogers, of Pisgah, Iowa.
Family to receive friends, Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., funeral service Friday, 3 p.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Rev. Dr. E. A. Hering, officiant. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #2. Luncheon to follow at the Eagles Club. The family will direct memorials.
