Al was a lovely man- I work across from his apartment and had the priviledge of speaking with him often. He was one of my favorite people in the neighborhood!

I am a friend of Albert's son Charles. I never met Albert, but I know that to have produced a man as fine as Charles Avakian, Albert must have been an extraordinary father. May he rest in peace and may his family find some comfort in the joy, love, and wisdom he brought to their lives.

Uncle Al was my favorite uncle. He was the sweetest guy. I could tell he was always genuinely interested when we came to visit. And it was obvious how much he loved his family and Effie. I remember when he took out a valentine's day classified ad in the paper telling Aunt Effie how much he loved her. And I'll never forget the day he tried to help us recover a ball that was stuck in a tree. He kept throwing another ball at it and missing. So just for fun I said, "Hey did't you play professional baseball?" Al had a huge heart and a huge smile for everyone. I hadn't seen him since 2009, but I do and I will definitely miss him. I know Mark, Steffie and Charlie will hold his memory dear. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there with you.

You Dad was a warm and caring person. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. I always enjoyed talking to Al and your Mom when I would visit your house during High School and College. May it bring you comfort to know that nothing can diminish the wonderful ways your father touched each of your lives. His memories will live with you all forever.

Al, You were always the gentleman. It was always a pleasure talking with you. You were a kind, considerate and caring man. My Mom and I were looking forward to visiting you when the weather got warmer.
