James McElderry Obituary
James J. McElderry, 76, on February 5, 2018 of Ramsey, NJ. Beloved husband of 55 years of Maureen. Loving father of Maureen and late husband Steve, Kathleen and husband Phil, Patricia and husband Mike, Carolyn and husband Andrew and Jim and wife Kim. Cherished grandfather of Eileen, Anne and Sarah Peltier, John and MaryKate Angotti, Elizabeth Schaeffer, Evan, Liam and Patrick Walker and Grace and Liam McElderry. Dear brother of Larry Brown and wife Joanne and the late Frank McElderry and wife Lorraine. Also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Although James was born in Dumont, NJ he was raised in the Bronx, NY. He received his BA from Manhattan College and his MA from Wagner College. His professional career was in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Upon his retirement he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports and dance recitals as well as wonderful summers on the beach in Lavallette, NJ . James and Maureen have been Ramsey residents and parishioners of St. Paul R.C. Church for 39 years. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of James to a charity of your choice. Please send tributes, memories and condolences to vanemburghsneider.com.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
