Norman Lindsay

LINDSAY
Norman L., 87, of Hawthorne passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2013. Born and raised in New York City, he resided in Maywood before moving to Hawthorne two years ago. A Columbia University graduate with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, he went on to earn a master's degree in sanitary engineering from NYU. A proud Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 7408 of Maywood. An active and involved member of his community, he was a Councilman with the Borough of Maywood and served on the Planning Board and was also a member of several Bridge clubs including one in Hillsdale. Mr. Lindsay was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Hackensack. Norman enjoyed theater and travel especially cruises.
Prior to retiring, he was a professional engineer with Riddick Associates, PC in Suffern, NY, where he was employed for sixty years since the company's inception in 1948.
Beloved husband of Catherine (Craig) Lindsay. Loving and devoted father of Dennis Lindsay and wife Kathleen, Kathleen Galatro and husband Garry and Elizabeth Galatro and husband Richard. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Kristen, Bryan, Nicole, Katelyn, Graham and Tori. Adored great-grandfather of nine. Dear brother of Donald Lindsay and the late Bruce Lindsay and Carol Fazio.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, June 28, 2013, 10 AM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
